Aout 2008: Après m'etre arreté pendant 3 semaines pour des vacances avec une amie de France, je reprend le travail. Avant de m'attaquer aux gros travaux que je planifie de faire depuis l'année précédente, je voulais terminer certaines taches inachevées. Parmi ces taches, aménager une seconde écoutille dans le plancher du cockpit, donnant accès a la mèche du safran et au mécanisme de la timonnerie qui sera installé plus tard, poser le support arrière de l'arbre d'hélice, et aussi, fabriquer des cadrages en acajou autour des compartiments de rangements dans le cockpit.

Aménager cette seconde écoutille facilite aussi l'accès a l'endroit ou sera solidement boulonné de l'intérieur, le support arrière de l'arbre d'hélice. Je découpe le contreplaqué de la coque, la ou ce support sera installé, afin de faire reposer celui-ci directement sur la quille faite de chene blanc.

August 2008: After a 3 weeks pause for a vacation with a French girlfriend, I resume my work. Before attaking the big work I was planning since the previous year, I wanted to complete some unfinished tasks. Among them, installing a second hatch in the cockpit floor, giving access to the rudder shaft and the linkage that will be installed later, posing the rear propeller shaft support, and make some mahogany frames around storage compartments in the cockpit.

Posing this second hatch also make easier the access to the area where the rear propeller shaft support will be bolted from the inside. I cut off a patch in the hull's plywood, to allow the shaft support to rest directly on the keel made of white oak.
