Once the centerboard has been strongly fixed under the center hull with long screws and fiberglass strips as reinforcement, the last thing that needed to be done was a good mudding job to hide the junction and also to finish the last section under the stern, that I did not have the time to finish last summer. Once that mudding done, I drew with masking tape the water line on the side of the center hull, using as reference, the same lines still visible on the lateral hulls. Then I applied a coat of interprotec paint on the center hull. Technically, since the hull is entirely made of epoxy, the interprotec may seem superfluous. But in my mind, applying that coat of interprotec has a strong symbolic aspect for me as it marks the end of an important step considering the numerous technical difficulties the renovation of that center hull had. And besides, there is also the aesthetic aspect, as applying that coat of interprotec masks off the mudding and all the writings.
Remembering where the water level was the last time the boat went in the water in 2005, and considering that converting the hull into a double hard chine one adds roughly 1500 lbs buoyancy while taking into account the weight of the materials, I expect that the water level will be roughly 3 inches bellow that drawn water line.
